EPIC M&M EATING and other crazy stuff...

This past weekend I went with Mackenzie and Anna to the Teen Spring Retreat at church. It was out at Camp ToKnowHim near Scottsboro. (I say 'near' because I'm pretty sure it's actually located in some very small town -- Pisgah? -- that no one has ever heard of... it's definitely out in the sticks... and Kim and I got lost 2 or 3 times trying to find it. ha) Anyways, it was a great weekend. The theme was "EPIC" and the focus of the time was on seeing God for the EPIC God that He is -- and for how He wants to work in our lives and use us in EPIC ways for His glory. Lot's of good lessons and things to think about -- and of course, there was lots of good fun! In our free time on Saturday, Rodney challenged the kids to try and break some Guinness Book World Records... and to make up some Central Youth Group records of our own. It was pretty funny to see what everyone was trying to do! Here's a few pictures from the weekend and a video of Mackenzie trying to break the Guinness World Record for "Most M&Ms eaten one at a time with chopsticks in one minute." The record was 38 and she got 41!! Now we just have to figure out if we can make it 'official' somehow! :)

Here's Anna trying to see how many spoons she can balance on her face -- I think she got to 26 before they all fell off. Amber apparently balanced 48 on her face later when I wasn't around with a camera!!

Sam is making an attempt to hold more than 22 golf balls in one hand - I don't think he ever came even close to that! That's a LOT of golf balls!

Jasmine's try at the M&M Record. :)

This is Lindsey trying to avoid an 'EPIC Fail' of falling into the pond... :)

...and this is the EPIC Fail of my camera. :( Such a good picture of Mackenzie and Becca, but sometimes my camera just randomly puts these lines in pictures. grrrr.....
And finally, here's Mackenzie's World Record M&M Eating effort! :)

Spring on Green Mountain

Greeted by the tulips in bloom
...insects that zoom
...water so clear
...kids playing near
...paths winding here
...streams rushing there
...ducks on the loose
No wait! That's a goose. :)

Wind rushing through trees
...speaking to me.
Sun peaking through leaves
...gloriously.

I needed this day
...to get away
...to walk with God
...to pray.

Show me Your heart.
I know I'm a part
of Your grand design
for this moment in time.

Welcome spring!

May it bring

...new life
...less strife.

God bless this mountain,

this overflowing fountain
of refuge and peace
for my soul.
